Exchange-traded bitcoin investment vehicles now own more than 800,00 BTC
Exchange-traded bitcoin investment vehicles now have more than 800,000 BTC under management, equalling 4.3% of the circulating bitcoin supply.
The bitcoin holdings of the exchange-traded investment vehicles surpassed 800,000 BTC last week. This equals approximately 4.3% of the circulating bitcoin supply and could very well be one of the key drivers of the decline in exchange’s bitcoin balance. Since Dec 30th, 2020, the BTC under management from exchange-traded bitcoin investment vehicles has grown by 106,000 BTC or approximately 15%. In dollar terms, the AUM of these funds has grown by 112% in the 3-month period from Dec 30th, from $20bn to $42.4bn. Grayscale is the dominating player in the market, managing $34.7b worth of bitcoin, or approximately 82% of the total bitcoins managed by publicly traded bitcoin funds.
